Description
Dog-to-Dog Aggression On-Demand Course Length: 3 hours Course Overview: This comprehensive course is specifically designed for Professional Dog Trainers, Behaviour Consultants, and rescue workers who are dedicated to effectively assessing, managing, and treating mild cases of dog-to-dog aggression. The course will provide an in-depth, evidence-based approach to understanding aggression, with a focus on practical, humane solutions that prioritize the welfare of the dog. The course begins with a thorough exploration of how to identify and categorize various forms of dog-to-dog aggression based on motivating factors. Participants will learn how to assess the root causes of aggression and recognize the dog's unique motivations and triggers. This foundational knowledge will allow professionals to develop a tailored approach for each individual dog, ensuring that interventions are both targeted and effective. Key to this is understanding the dog’s emotional state, social history, and environmental factors, all of which contribute to the manifestation of aggressive behaviour. In the second part of the course, the focus shifts to the application of effective, evidence-based management and rehabilitation strategies. Drawing from the principles of LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Averse) and aligning with the CCPDT Humane Hierarchy, this segment will teach participants how to implement treatment plans that are grounded in science and prioritize positive, ethical methods. The course covers a range of management strategies, including desensitization, counter-conditioning, and environmental modifications, all designed to reduce aggression and improve interactions between dogs. Throughout the course, participants will learn how to set realistic, measurable, and achievable treatment goals that can be effectively tracked and modified as needed. The ultimate aim is to equip trainers and behavior consultants with the knowledge and tools to create long-term success in dog-to-dog aggression cases, using methods that are both humane and scientifically sound. Topics covered include: • Assessing Dog-to-Dog Aggression • Understanding Aggression Triggers • Evidence-Based Management Strategies • Practical Treatment Applications • Goal Setting and Treatment Planning By the end of this course, participants will have a well-rounded understanding of how to assess, manage, and treat mild dog-to-dog aggression using a humane, science-backed approach. They will leave equipped with practical skills that can be immediately applied to improve the lives of dogs in their care and promote safer, more positive interactions between dogs.
