Description
Help your dog become an eager, enthusiastic participant in their own care, from teaching them to fine their own nails to no-restraint injections! Prioritize their comfort, build trust, and train behaviors that can be used for grooming, injections, vet exams, nail trims, and other stressful handling situations! This 2-day deep dive will introduce you and your dog to different strategies and protocols you can continue to solidify after the workshop. Cooperative care is suitable for all dogs, including those who are fearful of the vet, cautious around new people, worried about grooming, or even dogs who are tolerant of all medical handling! Owners who experience stress during nail trims, injections, or brushing benefit from cooperative strategies too! This workshop includes scratch pad nail filing, muzzle training, the Bucket Game, chin rests, counterconditioning tools, consent tests, safe handling, station behaviors, body targets, and more! It is accessible for guardians who are new to cooperative care, professional trainers looking to expand their skill set, and everyone in between. We also explore how to plan procedures, handling for animal professionals, and alternatives to traditional restraint mechanisms.
