Description

The “Become a Dial Guide” Evergreen Certification course Justine Schuurmans (Instructor), with Guest Speakers: Kim Brophey, Andrew Hale, Suzanne Clothier. This comprehensive course, led by the creator of the Stop the 77 Campaign and The Family Dog public and professional training programs, delves into the theory and practical application of the “The Dial Method™” technique for dedicated dog professionals to implement with family clients and their children or with ANY clients. The Dial Method™ is offered for everyone or as a Family with Kids edition; a breakthrough approach that swiftly gets families on the same page as their dog trainer with a super simple system - designed to shift the mindset of families from dog-focused training to human-focused training. Using shared language and a fluid framework, The Dial Method™ is an easy-to-understand distillation of the most progressive dog behavior science. We touch on ethology, dog body language, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, attachment theory, in addition to actionable steps to diagnose trouble areas and implement simple solutions through their companion workbook. The Dial Method™ is a preliminary course either before in-person training that can be referred to throughout training and after training for the highest level of success. After testing The Dial Method™ with real clients/families, “Become a Dial Guide” was subsequently created for Professional Trainers looking to implement The Dial Method™ seamlessly into their own client training. Become a Dial Guide Workshop (for professionals): The Workshop consists of at least 8 hours of video course recordings, where we cover The Dial Method's 40 minutes of video content, studying the canine behavior science that is the foundation of the 4 zones, and 12 elements of The Dial. Optional monthly breakout groups for students are offered to run case studies through this new framework. They learn to identify strong “hook questions” to help clients locate areas that require their focus. We take a deep dive into the companion guidebook - showing trainers how they can use this tool to customize each client’s unique experience of The Dial Method™ system. We wrap up the session by addressing the practical application of this framework, and the options for real-world integration of the program. This certification program is highly interactive and requires an end-of-course form submission for completion. With ongoing support and breakout groups for at least 90 days, Justine ensures close collaboration with each student. Successful completion of all requirements results in certification as a “Dial Guide”.
