Description
"Dogs who display reactivity to strangers and struggle to form relationships with new people experience unique challenges within shelter environments. Though they are frequent staff and volunteer favorites, these dogs may experience longer lengths of stay as shelter personnel struggle to find safe and effective means of introducing them to potential adopters. This workshop will focus on routines and protocols to help dogs with stranger danger to build confidence and make new human friends. We'll go over how to teach predictable routines and how to help these dogs to develop the skills that will allow them to meet new handlers and potential adopters happily and successfully. We will also discuss protocols for in-home introductions, which can be passed off to a foster or adoptive home. Come learn how to safely and effectively reach this segment of the canine population through in-depth behavior analysis, dynamic video examples and practical approaches designed for anyone who is trying to find solutions for the dogs who need this extra human support.
