Description
Assessing animal welfare is complex, traditionally relying on behavioral observation but strengthened by combining it with physiological measures. Monitoring indicators like heart rate, blood pressure, and biomarkers (e.g., cortisol and dopamine) offers deeper insight, though each method has its challenges. Tailoring assessment methods to specific contexts is key, with goals to refine welfare evaluation models that emphasize both strengths and limitations of physiological biomarkers.
