Description
This case study presentation highlights Keever, a dog rescued from a severe hoarding situation, who exhibited intense fear and chronic undersocialization. Attendees will be introduced to the behavioral challenges that Keever faced during his early days in his new environment and the significant hurdles in gaining his trust. The session will detail the passive habituation process, in which Keever was given the space to observe and acclimate to human presence without pressure, gradually building his comfort and confidence with limited to no active intervention by humans. The presentation will also cover the role of social learning, where Keever observed other well-adjusted dogs as models, contributing to his positive behavioral changes. Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the step-by-step approach used to transform Keever into a more confident and well-adjusted companion, along with the lasting impact these methods had on his behavior.
