Where is dog training headed? Dog training practices and philosophies are always changing based on science and innovative techniques from trainers and behaviorists in the field. Change is hard, but if you have an idea of where you might be going, it's a little easier! You probably already know that the dog training field is changing from old-school punishment-based training to a more modern approach. Over time, however, we're also evolving beyond straight positive reinforcement to looking at our reinforcers themselves, looking at which behaviors we train, etc., with an eye to meeting the needs of the individual dog.
