Description
The session will begin with an overview of Polyvagal theory. This includes the history of polyvagal theory, the hierarchy of the autonomic nervous system, the vagal nerve, neuroception, and co-regulation. Next, the presentation will discuss trauma - what it is, how it occurs, and what trauma causes. Lastly, the presenter will discuss how animal assisted therapy is related to the polyvagal theory, and how co-regulation, neuroception, and connection occurs when there is an animal in the room.
