Sharing your life with animals means saying goodbye to them. Kate will discuss what a companion animal death doula is, how she was moved to become one, and how she incorporates it into her behavior practice to support clients and raise awareness about grief and end-of-life preparedness. Discussion features include services end-of-life doulas can offer, proactive planning with a Companion Animal Advance Care Directive, helping children with grief, coordinating memorialization, vigils, tributes and end-of-life photography sessions, assisting clients to advocate for palliative care and aiding in objective quality-of-life assessments, among other important topics Learning Objectives Learn what doulas do and how we serve our clients Consider the pros and cons of at-home euthanasia for our clients Discuss the benefits of proactive planning and preparation for end-of-life Learn about end-of-life resources, including helping children navigate death and grieving
