Description
This seminar describes how to rapidly resolve dog-dog reactivity for dogs that have been involved in numerous full-body scraps and fights but have never injured another dog. In a nutshell, the approach involves two fundamental techniques: 1. Intensive Classical Conditioning — to help your dog feel better around other dogs. 2. Extremely Effective Lure Reward Training — to teach your dog how to act when other dogs are present. However, for many people the first step is to simply stop making the problem worse. Unfortunately, many owners unintentionally fuel dog-dog reactivity by forcing their dog into overwhelming situations, fueling their dog's fear with their own anxiety, and reinforcing the wrong behaviors. In this seminar you'll learn how to avoid these common mistakes. You will also learn to use one of most underutilized and underappreciated tools in modern dog training: your voice. Your voice is a particularly essential tool when it comes to resolving dog-dog reactivity because it allows you to provide your dog with instantaneous feedback and instruction at any time, even when your dog is looking away from you and too stressed to accept a food treat. When you know how to use your voice effectively, it can truly supercharge your dog training. To harness the full power of your voice, you'll use Lure Reward Training to teach your dog to understand and follow verbal instructions, and you'll practice in progressively more challenging environments until your dog follows your instructions promptly and reliably, in almost any situation. While it is possible to resolve your dog’s reactivity by yourself, you will also learn how to dramatically accelerate your dog’s rehabilitation by enlisting the help of a friend with a dog. In this seminar you'll learn: How to objectively assess the actual danger of your dog's reactivity to determine a realistic prognosis. Highly effective exercises to proof your dog to Come-Sit-Stay-Watch in any scenario, first with NO dogs present, then around controlled or known dogs (and informed owners), and eventually on a walk when unexpectedly encountering unfamiliar dogs. Several repeated-exposure exercises to fast-track practice with familiar dogs, so they are more likely to work during unexpected encounters with unfamiliar dogs. How to classically and operantly condition your dog simultaneously, so your praise and reassurance do not unintentionally reinforce your dog's reactivity. If your dog has injured another dog in a fight, unfortunately, this seminar is not intended for you.
