Description
During an initial behavior consultation, when my client says “but my dog isn’t food-motivated,” my response is “Not yet.” While various medical conditions may contribute to the creation of a finicky eater, so can unwise – often unintentional -- learning experiences. Addressing these obstacles to efficient training will improve the overall prognosis for all dogs, especially in challenging cases (e.g., dogs with a history of aggressive behaviors). This session will cover: • Parameters of fluent eating • Specific situations in which foster the habit of picky eating • Five common mistakes that teach inappetence -- and alternatives that promote healthy eating
