Description
PRIVATE EDUCATIONAL EVENT FOR CSATs ONLY; please do not list publicly. When working with a separation-related behavior problem, the behavior modification plan will include both day-to-day training and regular reassessments. Reassessing the dog regularly is a dynamic process that is integral to the success of training, allowing us to adapt the individual’s training, accommodate changes in behavior, and ensure efficient continued progress. These reassessments allow us to observe the dog in real-time and “ask” specific questions about the dog's comfort with various pieces of the training. What questions do we want to ask the dog? We’ll explore the different ways that the reassessment can allow us to test or verify that the dog is ready to proceed further. Finally, we’ll review how reassessing regularly aids in identifying potential contextual or environmental influences on behavior. Trainers can use reassessments to pinpoint those variables and adjust interventions accordingly. That level of flexibility is crucial in ensuring that the training plan remains tailored to the individual's evolving needs.
