Jill Kessler-Miller, M.S., CPDT-KA, ANWI, will be discussing breeds within the American Kennel Club Working Group. Dogs ranging in size from the Great Dane to the German Pinscher constitute working breeds, and their original tasks vary from cart hauling to herding to guarding. They are a do-it overall working dog from farm, ranch to fields of crops and snow. What do you need to know to best work these breeds? How are they alike, and yet different from other each other, and the breeds in the other six AKC Groups? How can you best tailor a training plan to them, whether in obedience, Nose Work, or just a family pet? Jill will share her insights on how to best capture their interest in being a working partner for their handlers. Jill Kessler-Miller has been training and studying behavior since 1989. She is a certified trainer, a Chief Tester for the American Temperament Testing Society, a Scent Work judge for AKC, and a provisional Nose Work Instructor. She has been working as an expert witness in lawsuits involving dogs since 2004. Jill has titled dogs in obedience, schutzhund, Rally, agility, Barn Hunt, Scent Work and Nose Work. She still trains and competes with her current Rottweiler, Sisko.
