Description
Balking is a particular challenge for trainers who choose to use positive reinforcement rather than force. When our dogs stop moving and refuse to proceed – when out on a walk, when loading into a vehicle, when arriving at the veterinary clinic – we often feel as stuck as they are. How can we encourage movement while avoiding the creation of a “sticking habit”? While we want to empower our animals to have the option to say “no,” we also aim to ensure their lives are enriched with a variety of reinforcers. So opting in to our invitations to move alongside us, out into the world, is a critical welfare issue for our pets. In this webinar, we’ll examine several case-studies drawn from Kathy’s work with her behavior-consultation clients.
