Under the direction of Assistant Manager of K9 Training and general supervision of the assigned Lead K9 Trainer, the K9 Trainer is responsible for independently implementing all elements of assistance dog training, including reading dog body language, training procedures, environmental awareness, application of learning theory and related modalities, use of training equipment, training of K9s For Warriors (K9s) skills, dog evaluation, assessment, and reporting.
Qualifications:
· H.S. diploma or equivalent
· 2 years of professional animal training experience or graduation from the apprenticeship program
· Experience working with purpose bred and shelter dogs preferred

Assist in the oversight of the day-to-day behavior department tasks and provide direction to behavior technicians when the Manager is off or unavailable.
Develop and deliver training for staff and volunteers.
Create educational materials for internal and external use.
Conduct animal behavior assessment and perform hands-on delivery of animal behavior programs. This includes programs for shelter and owned animals.
Record assessment and program related information and perform data entry to update animal records.
Answer patron inquiries and questions regarding animal behavior
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Work Experience: Experience working with animals in a professional setting
You will partner with veterinarians to address the husbandry, medical and behavioral needs of each animal on its journey to a forever home. You will support the veterinarians in treating behavioral concerns, lowering fear, anxiety, and stress and maximizing opportunities for placement. Health Technicians work with multiple other teams, including animal control officers, customer care associates (in adoptions, the animal resource center, the SNiP clinic), and volunteer services, to ensure that animals become available for placement as expediently as possible.
Qualifications:
At least 2 years experience working directly with animals in a medical and shelter environment. Experience in handling dogs safely and with defensive handling skills when needed. Experienced in LIMA training methods and enrichment plans.
